The quality department of the accreditation and quality assurance center was established in 2017 to ensure the quality of the academic and administrative process in the university according to the requirements of local and international quality systems.
In cooperation with the Center's Training and Development Department, the Department works to conduct training and development courses for the members of the academic and administrative bodies in accordance with the international standards to improve the quality of their abilities and their administrative, research and teaching skills.
Among the important achievements of the department is the development of a student-centric Course Portfolio tool that enables the professor to: (i) create a course syllabus, (ii) introduce student assessment methods, and grades and analyze the results, (iii) mapping between the assessment methods and the learning outcomes of the course and the program, (iv) analyze the results of the learning outcomes of the course and the program, (v) create a report containing the results, teaching strategies and professor recommendations, (vi) attach copies of lecture notes, assessment methods, key answers and samples of student solutions.
The department has an organizational and supervisory role for the university proficiency exam, which is held by the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission for Higher Education Institutions and ensures its quality annually. The exam results are analyzed, studied and discussed with the colleges to benefit from the feedback in improving results.
Future plans for the department include: obtaining the national quality assurance certificate for the university and its programs, and raising the university rank in the Jordanian ranking of universities and other international rankings. The department also seeks to apply for foreign projects funded by the European Union to spread and develop the culture of quality at the university.
Objectives
The Quality Department aims to:
- Follow-up the implementation of the axes related to the quality axis in the strategic plan of Yarmouk University.
- Contribute to the achievement of the quality standards of Jordanian higher education institutions.
- Raise the status of the university within the ranking of universities locally, regionally and internationally.
- Follow up the university proficiency exam and analyze the results at the university level.
- Obtaining international accreditation for selected academic programs at the University.
